Cookbooks can be big sellers. Publishers still push out hundreds each year, with widely ranging subject matter and innovative, eye-catching designs. Whether you’re a food lover who likes to write, a food blogger hankering for a book deal, or a writer passionate about cooking, creating a cookbook can be satisfying and fun. It is also a challenging endeavor for which many authors are unprepared.
In this online, interactive workshop, cookbook writing coach and co-author Dianne Jacob will teach you how to establish a sellable idea, how to write and test a recipe that works, and what goes into writing a proposal for agents and editors. She’ll also cover self publishing.
Our online cooking classes are live and interactive. We’ve made this learning experience as close to an in-person class at The Civic Kitchen as we can. Got questions? You’ll get to ask them. Wondering if your dough/sauce/whatever looks right? You’ll be able to show the teacher and find out.
The classes are held via Zoom, with a maximum of 12 students. You only need to purchase one spot per household. Ingredient, equipment and prep lists are available by clicking on the ‘VIEW THE LIST’ button on this page. After registering, you will receive instructions for logging into class at the appointed date/time. Printable recipes will be available 48 hours prior to class start, so you may read ahead, cook along as much as you like, and take notes during class. The class will be recorded and you’ll be able to view the video at any time by logging into your account on our website.
Please make sure to download the Zoom application prior to class. Click here to download the Zoom software. To learn more about how to use Zoom, here’s their Quick Start guide for new users.
