Spring Salad Bowls

Sun | May 07, 2023 | 10A–12P PT

Teacher Camila Loew

It’s spring, and we are craving salads, salads, and more salads! And we don’t mean your garden variety side salads—we’re talking about a meal in a bowl. If you could use some fresh salad inspiration, this class with Camila Loew is for you.
We’ll make Camila’s craveable Comfort Bowl (salad? or not a salad? you decide), with oats, spring onion, and avocado kissed by soy sauce and sesame, and a poached egg on top if you desire. The Sardine Salad has recruited even the most sardine-fearing folks to the tiny fish team. Give it a try! Andes-Style Tabbouleh tosses protein packed quinoa with crunchy vegetables and invigorating herbs for a flavorsome one-bowl meal.
Cook along with every recipe, or make one or two and watch the rest. Either way, you’ll have ready-to-eat salads and excellent leftovers for easy, healthy meals throughout the week.

About the teacher

Camila Loew

CAMILA LOEW has spent her life among three cultures: Argentina, the US, and Spain, yet she swears she was Japanese in a past life. She is the founder of Sobremesa and Sobremesa Culinary Tours, offering food-based tours to Japan, Barcelona, and the Basque Country.
Camila has worked with food for many years, as a writer, entrepreneur, academic professor, culinary instructor, and tour guide. She holds a Ph.D. in Humanities and is a certified Nutrition Consultant, as well as a trained chef. Her first cookbook, The Sobremesa Cookbook was published in 2020.
During her years in Berkeley, California, Camila served as Academic Dean at Bauman College for Holistic Nutrition and Culinary Arts. After returning to Spain, she founded the Food Studies & Gastronomy Study Abroad program at the University of Barcelona in 2020. In addition to leading culinary tours, Camila helps people to achieve better health through food, sharing her love for the Mediterranean region and its cuisines.
Camila’s cooking style is inspired by fresh produce and the change of seasons, but above all, by people and the daily magical act of gathering around the table to share a meal. When she’s not teaching, at the market, in the kitchen or at the table, Camila enjoys drinking tea, practicing yoga, hiking in the Collserola hills, and reading.
Camila feels most comfortable in front of a group teaching, usually something to do with translating culture through food.
